Two Things NOT to do On Earth Day

Two Things NOT to do On Earth Day

April 22, 2010 in Blog View Comments

Earth day is one of those days that conjures up so many memories of hot debates among Christians on how we should respond to global environmental issues. As I was thinking about how Christians need to start being more involved in Earth Day (everyday should be earth day) I think it is important to know what we should NOT be doing on earth day. I’ll keep this short.

  1. We need to be careful that in our celebrations and prayers we don’t fall prey to worshiping the earth rather than worshiping the God who created it.
  2. We need to be careful that we do not make global warming a Christian mandate. Just because you completely buy into global warming, does not mean every Christian should. There are some really bright people on both sides of the issue who have come to different conclusions.

Happy Earth Day.

I love theology and the challenge of making deep teachings non-boring. Let's face it, most of the time we hear theological teaching, it really is boring. Does it really have to be that way? Nope.
