How To Waste Your Life Before You Turn 30 – Part 2
This is part 2 in a “Waste your Life” series I am doing this week. Enjoy. You can get part 1 by going here. I thought it would be easier to release these in short bits since reading long articles can be a chore at times.
You will waste your life before you turn 30…
If missions is not your number one priority.
Missions exists because worship doesn’t. The primary task of each individual is to worship God (glorify him). Because there are a number of people in the world who do not worship him, God created the idea of missions in order to make that happen (Matthew 28:19-20). When Jesus was giving his last words to his disciples before he ascended he told them to make disciples. Considering that these were his last words before he left, it seems to me that the command to make disciples is a pretty big deal .
If you fail to make disciples.
It’s not enough to just evangelize people into the faith. We must also make disciples of them. We spend a lot of time and money in the church evangelizing but we do a pretty poor job of actually making real disciples. Disciple-making is one of the core functions of being a Christian. This does not mean that you have to have a seminary degree or know a lot of theology. It simply means doing life with others so that they can grow to become more like Christ.
